Celebrating its 61st year, Wildlife Photographer of the Year is the Museum’s annual competition and exhibition showcasing the very best in wildlife photography. The competition has been recognising the world’s most outstanding nature photography every year since 1965, and this year is no different! From fascinating behaviours to underwater worlds and conservation storytelling, this year’s esteemed jury has whittled down over 60,000 entries, from over 110 countries, by over 4,000 photographers, to 100 of the most powerful images that tell a story of a planet under pressure.
A further 25 images from the competition entries have now also been selected by the Jury and the Natural History Museum for the WPY People’s Choice Award. We’re delighted to tell you that your image ‘Ready to Pounce’ has been chosen as a nominee for this award!
The image was selected out of over 60,000 entries from across the world.
It is currently on display (digitally) at the Natural History Museum, London. It is included in the highlights book as well.
The global press campaign will launch on 4 February 2026 for official online voting

I’m Joseph Ferraro, a macro photographer documenting the often overlooked creatures around me. Through my work, I focus on the beauty and complexity of the small lives that are easy to miss. I’m also a lecturer and instructor, teaching macro photography and sharing the natural history of the subjects I photograph. Follow along as I explore and reveal the remarkable tiny world that exists around us.
