Bee Fest, the Belle Isle Nature Center’s annual celebration of the pollinators who call southeast Michigan
home, is returning from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17. Hosted on National Bee Day, Bee Fest
focuses on the important role bees play in our ecosystem and teaches guests how to care for these
six-legged pollinators through fun activities and educational displays.

Bee Fest is free and open to the public. No registration is required.

I’m Joseph Ferraro, a macro photographer documenting the often overlooked creatures around me. Through my work, I focus on the beauty and complexity of the small lives that are easy to miss. I’m also a lecturer and instructor, teaching macro photography and sharing the natural history of the subjects I photograph. Follow along as I explore and reveal the remarkable tiny world that exists around us.
