Macrophotography by Joseph Ferraro
The Detroit Zoological Society (DZS) is featuring the exhibition, Pollinator Portraits: Macro photography by Joseph Ferraro, beginning June 22 at the Belle Isle Nature Center. Ferraro walks the naturalist’s path, documenting native pollinators and other invertebrates and photographs portraits of his subjects as they are in their environment while capturing their beauty. He emphasizes the importance these creatures have in our lives and the perils they face and seeks to inspire the viewer to look more closely at the intricate world around us. Working by the credo of “do no harm”, Ferraro can be found exploring everything from backyards to community gardens, camera in hand, photographing the many subjects he encounters.
