Speaking Engagements & Workshops

Looking closer at the small worlds around us

I’m a macro photographer who spends a lot of time on the ground, in gardens, fields, and forests, photographing the tiny creatures most people walk past without ever noticing. Through my photography and storytelling, I aim to slow things down and invite people to look closer at the world right in front of them.

I offer both speaking engagements and technical workshops, tailored to a wide range of audiences—from general nature lovers to photographers looking to deepen their craft.

Speaking Engagements

These talks are visual, story-driven presentations built around my macro photographs and videos of invertebrates and other overlooked life.

Using images as an entry point, I talk about curiosity, attention, and the value of noticing what’s small and often ignored. No technical photography background is required—these talks are designed to be accessible, engaging, and inspiring for anyone interested in nature, creativity, or simply seeing the world a little differently.

Format

  • Typically 45 minutes, followed by time for Q&A
  • Image-rich presentation with descriptions and stories of the subject
  • Suitable for in-person or virtual audiences

Technical Workshops

My workshops focus on the practical and creative side of macro photography, grounded in real-world field experience.

I cover how I approach photographing tiny subjects outdoors, including lighting, working handheld, finding subjects, and adapting quickly to changing conditions. Workshops can be adjusted for different experience levels, from curious beginners to more advanced photographers.

Topics may include

  • Macro photography fundamentals
  • Lighting techniques for small subjects
  • Field workflow and problem-solving
  • Developing a personal approach to photographing the small and overlooked

Workshops can be lecture-based, hands-on, or a combination of both, depending on the needs of the group.
